BAUCH STATE GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH SNAKE BITE TREATMENT CENTERS

Bauchi state government has unveiled it's readiness to establish centre for the treatment of snakebite patients in the state.

The Governor gave the hint when he welcomed officials of the Nigerian Snakebite Research and Intervention Centre based in Bayero University Kano who paid him an advocacy visit at the Government House , Bauchi. 

The move according to the Governor is to provide quick treatment to snakebite patients in communities of the state who are exposed to various species of snake.

The governor said already the state ministry of health has begun the construction a center in Duguri, he expressed his  willingness to partner with research center in establishing the centre and for the procurement of facilities needed for treatment of snakebite patients. 

Governor Bala Mohammed used the medium to invite the private sector to invest in the centre for the production of anti-venom

for the benefit of Nigerians.


Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Professor Abdulrazaq Habib said the visit is to seek for the support of the state government in tackling the problem of snakebite in the state. 


 The Professor appealed to the state government to provide the required funds for the production of the anti venom and local vaccines as part of effort to mitigate death rate as a result of snakebite in the country.
